Our service includes the removal of fuel, waste, and residual materials, followed by thorough tank cleaning to prepare the tank for its next stage of work.
Once cleaned, the tank is ready for inspection, repairs, product replacement, product changeover, or decommissioning.

Manned entry or no-man entry?
Where the tank design and contents allow, a no-man entry method is adopted first. Liquids and sludge can be removed by our vacuum tanker. Avoiding entry can reduce the risks associated with confined space work.
Where entry is required, the work is planned under the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997, with a suitable risk assessment and safe system of work, gas monitoring, appropriate respiratory protection where required, a dedicated person at the entry point and rescue arrangements in place before entry.
What happens on a tank clean
- We ask questions: Tank size, what it holds or last held, access points, relevant safety data sheets and your permit to work requirements. Of course, photos can help us understand the tank before we attend site.
- Method Statement and Risk Assessment. Prepare. Prepare, Prepare. What are site requirements, security requirement, tank isolation, ventilation, waste removal and emergency arrangements.
- Waste removal. Liquids and sludge are pumped or vacuumed out, deposits are broken down by jetting and the tank is washed out as required.
- Transport and disposal. Liquid fuel taken away for recycling and waste is taken to a permitted treatment or disposal facility. Where a consignment note or waste transfer note is required, the relevant documentation is provided for your records and duty of care requirements.
- Tank handed over ready for inspection, repair, refilling or decommissioning.
